The LucidaSO font pack

StarOffice 5.2 -- which used to be available for free -- includes the well-known Lucida Bright fonts in Type1 format. These fonts can also be used with TeX. Note, however, that StarOffice does not include the Lucida New Math fonts!

Vladimir Volovich <TeX@vvv.vsu.ru> has created TeX font metrics, virtual fonts, font definition files and map files for the Lucida fonts; they are available in form of a tarball archive. The Type1 fonts must not be distributed alone - due to legal reasons - so a shell script is provided, which extracts the fonts from StarOffice 5.2 (as installed under Linux!) and collects them in another tarball. These archives can be unpacked directly into any TDS compliant TeX system; the instructions cover teTeX, MikTeX, and VTeX/Free.

Download the files from the primary distribution site (Russia) or from the mirror site (Germany).

A note for users of VTeX/2:
An OS/2 program to unpack tar.gz archives can be obtained, e.g., from Hobbes.
